Meet the Owner/Founder, Brendan Roy. Brendan is a Class A licensed contractor builder who started B P Roy Construction LLC in 2007. During that time, Brendan was working for Roanoke County and Fire and Rescue as a medic and wanted to supplement his income with skills he had acquired over the years. He was working 24 hour shifts at the fire department and working solid jobs in between staying busy and building his brand. His passion for construction became more evident during this time and he hit a crossroad where he felt he could no longer be both a FF/Medic and a dedicated contractor meeting the needs of his customer’s expectations while simultaneously working two jobs. He also had a strong desire to start a family and his work schedule was just too much to manage to fulfill his goals. Around 2011, after much thought and consideration, speaking with mentors and those closest to him, he decided to pursue his passion for construction full-time and leave the security of the county job behind. It was a huge leap of faith that required time, energy, and dedication as he was going to be completely self-employed.
Brendan worked diligently over these years to ensure he was fully licensed, accredited with the BBB, held appropriate workman’s compensation insurance, and even consulted with business attorneys who specialized in the trades, namely, construction to appropriately counsel him in his endeavors. Since taking the leap to complete self-employment, over the past 15 years, Brendan has built a reputation of integrity, trust, and excellence for his unwavering commitment to meet the needs of his customers. He has built countless lake-front homes, log cabins, custom remodels, and even completed many commercial projects, having acquired his commercial license along the way. Brendan’s work has been featured in Laker’s Magazine and many of the homes he has either completed or was contracted to complete by other builders have been featured in the SML Charity Home Tour.
Brendan says his favorite projects are those where he can “start from grass and dirt and finish with a completed and ready to live in dream home” highlighting the fact that his love for excavation has flourished over the past eight years. He completes his own site work leaving little room for error as he understands the needs for the next steps in building and can ensure the excavation is done “just right” to start the build.
In his spare time, Brendan enjoys spending time with his family, a wife (Holly) and three young children. He enjoys farming, raising cattle, lifting weights, hunting, and visiting Smith Mountain Lake.
